Colne’s 3rd XI made it three wins in three days for the club at The Horsfield, beating Rishton 3rd XI by 68 runs to claim all 12 points.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Colne posted an impressive 219 for 8 from their 40 overs. Nick Wiaczek led the way with a well-made 59, supported by Austin Heyhirst with 43. There were also telling contributions from Zaryab Ayaz and Chris Burt, who both added 27, along with Alex Byrne who chipped in with 24.
Colne then made early inroads with the ball, reducing Rishton to 36 for 4 and putting the visitors on the back foot. The pressure never relented as wickets fell at regular intervals, with Rishton eventually bowled out for 151. James Burt starred with the ball, taking 4 for 38, while Alex Byrne impressed with 2 for 11. Austin Heyhirst, Nick Wiaczek, and Thomas Ellacott each claimed a wicket to round off a strong all-round performance.
The 3rd's now look ahead to next weekend where they face Bacup 3rd's at Lane Head - Saturday 10th of May - Wickets pitched 12:30.
